Didn’t workout today?

So it’s late and the day got away from you and you didn’t get your workout in…that guilty feeling is starting to creep up while you flip through the channels.

Should you continue to sit here (American Idol is on in 10 minutes, after all) or should you go and put in that video (Tony is calling).

You flip channels for a bit longer (only 5 minutes until Idol now, not even time for a Ten Minute Trainer workout) and your guilt is that much closer…

How are you ever going to change you habits? Maybe you should just grab a couple of those yummy chocolate chip cookies. After all, isn’t a glass of milk good for your bones?

You all know you’ve experienced exactly this situation. So here’s my solution:

Get your workout in during the commercials!

Sure, it’s not the same as doing 30 minutes of interval training or doing your P90X yoga. But it’s something! You could even burn enough calories to work off those cookies you suddenly want (have them after the workout!)

During the first commercial break get up and do squats. For the ENTIRE break…without stopping.

In the next break, do jumping jacks.

In the 3rd, do jump rope drills.

During the 4th break, do pushups.

Get your situps done during the 5th break.

And finish off with burpies for the 6th break.

You’ll be amazed at how long the commercial breaks are and how little “show” you actually get for your hour! In fact, in the course of a normal prime time show, you’ll end up with about 18-24 minutes of working out! And you will have targeted every major muscle group in your body!

Have fun with this one! I did this with my kids two nights ago and my chest hurt the next day from the pushups! LOL :)
