Build lean, sexy muscle and smash those stubborn plateaus. You’ve never seen a fitness program like this one!
Are you ready to burn as much fat as you possibly can? With ChaLEAN Extreme you will add lean muscle to your frame and burn up to 60% of your body fat in just 3 months, with visible results every month. Chalene’s secret is in her “Lean Phasing” technique which utilizes circuit resistance training. You will lift heavy weights in three different phases to have you burning fat constantly, even while you sleep. You get 15 different workouts, as well as the nutrition guide and guide book, thigh toner band, fat calipers to track your fat losses, a motivational audio CD (featuring Chalene) and the Kitchen Makeover and Healthy Eats DVD.
The workouts are broken into three distinct “phases”. The first, Burn, has you lifting weights to jump-start your metabolism and break down those “extra” reserves of fat. In these moderate training workouts, you’ll work your upper body then lower body, and learn how “Lean Phasing” will help you see major results every 30 days!
Then in the Push phase Chalene shows you how to lift heavy—beyond your comfort zone—so you build the muscle you need to burn fat. Chalene makes it easier than it sounds with incredibly fast results.
And, finally, in the Burn phase you really bring it home with new routines and dynamic moves that literally melt the fat off your body. You will be blown away with jaw-dropping results and rewarded with a brand-new body!
Chalene ignites your metabolism with super-intense cardio- and strength-training routines on your non-training days and then rejuvenates and lengthens your hard-working muscles with an invigorating flexibility workout. There are also two ab workouts designed to target your midsection like never before.
The Deluxe package adds a workout band, the sculpting gloves and 3 more workouts. There are two more cardio workouts and another ab routine.
Tina’s Input:
I was waiting for this video on pins and needles. I had heard about it months in advance and being the die-hard Turbo fan that I am, would do anything that Chalene told me to do. But this was NOT Turbo Jam. In fact, this was the opposite of Turbo.
If you’ve ever heard of SuperSlow weight training, this is similar and produces similar benefits but BETTER! I’m a fan of slow weight training for several reasons, one of which being the lowered risk of injury to joints, especially as we age. Chalene does a great job of getting you into a “learning” phase of weight training in her “Before you begin” video and in the Burn phase. These workouts are in NO WAY easy but they are suitable and adaptable for even a beginner who has no weight training experience. This is a definite plus, especially for people who are drawn to P90X but just aren’t ready yet. This would be the workout to get you P90X-like results without the high-impact intensity.
That being said, her cardio workouts, while they can be modified to suit even beginners, are extremely tough. These are boot-camp/callisthenic style workouts. Because you are working out in intervals, and hard intervals at that, you don’t need to put in the same amount of time as you would when doing endurance cardio. Each of her cardio workouts is around 30-40 min and that includes the warm up/stretch.
The ab routines are awesome. As one of those people who has always worked my abs, it’s tough to really get a burn but these BURN!
I bought the original package but quickly ordered the additional video (have the bands and gloves already) and I really liked these cardio and ab additions. These were similar to the ones included but worked just differently enough (and more intensely) to make it worth the money to me.
Okay, so what you really want to know are my results, right? Does it work? Without a doubt, I say YES! I have already been doing Turbo for over a year, teaching it, have gone through several rounds of P90X and several of the other workouts. I was just coming off of my “Christmas weight” and had gained 10 lbs (from eating too well). I managed to drop 12 lbs (including the 10 I’d gained) and went from a starting body fat of 25.4% down to 13.3% in 12 weeks.
I did follow the Burn eating plan for most of the 3 month because I felt that the eating plan was just a little confusing and didn’t allow for a busy schedule like mine. I didn’t have time to remember (unless I wrote it down daily) which day I’d eaten a Push or Lean meal and which meal it was. But I wasn’t hungry and ate well, I would just throw in some of the other meals occasionally.
All in all, I love this program. The workouts were extremely quick (never more than 60 min with the abs included) and I got fantastic results. I could actually see the muscles that run around my waist. I have NEVER been this lean before, not even when I finished the Success Story contest!
Bryun’s Input:
Intensity/Impact: Low to High (Low impact possible with move modification)
This fitness program is one that I did not want to do at first, because I had the misconception that it was just a girl’s version of P90X. Although some of the moves are geared more towards female’s typical fitness goals, there are plenty of moves that focus on men’s typical fitness goals included as well. The weightlifting in month 2 I enjoyed very much, as much as I liked the weightlifting in P90X!
The focus in Chalean Extreme during the “strength” workout moves, is a slow and steady movement that exhausts the muscle group you are using. 3 “extreme reps.” are added on to the end of most sets to make sure your muscle group is exhausted!
The trainer, Chalene Johnson, does a great job at showing the modification to the moves in the program for people who either are not at that fitness level yet, or have body part limitations.
I found that at the finish of this fitness program, my body leaned out more and I gained significant muscle strength (especially in my legs) from the concept of lifting a little slower and the added “extreme reps.” tacked on to most weightlifting sets.
CHALEAN EXTREME ROCKS!!!
