Rev Abs

Do you like Capoiera?  Rev Abs may be the program for you!  International fitness expert Brett “El Capitan” Hoebel teams up with Beachbody to launch REV ABS – a complete training and nutrition system aimed at getting anyone a lean, toned body and unforgettable abs.

UPDATE 4/10:

I’ve been doing Rev Abs for just under a month now.  I did follow the 14 Day Quick Start eating plan and I have to say that I am VERY impressed with the results I have had.  After our move and 6 months of doctor’s tests they found I have an abnormal level of progesterone (too loo) and estrogen (too high) which maqueraded as a thyroid issue.  Since I’ve been treated, the weight wouldn’t seem to come off (about 20 lbs to lose again).  Trainers hadn’t been able to help, dieticians, friends…no one had answers.  I was working out 2+ hours a day (at doctor’s orders) and eating around 1300-1400 calories a day with every single bite written down.

Because I had finished the Insanity program (and at Brett Hoebel’s recommendation) I started in the second “phase” of the program on Day 46, purchasing the Deluxe package.  The first workout, Fat Burning Abs made me want to cry the next day!  My low abs were soooooo sore!  But I was thrilled that something would target them so well!  So far, I’ve been able to keep my intensity up with each workout by using weights.  The only workout that seems a bit “easy” after Insanity is Rev It Up BUT with a few simple modifications to make it harder (eg. making them jumping taps instead of toe taps, deeper squats, or using the weighted gloves) has my heartrate in the same range as it did with Insanity.  Unlike Insanity, Rev Abs uses weights (or bands) more often.  5 of the workouts use weights for interval training.

But what I like best about RevAbs is that anyone can do it.  A beginner could start with the first phase and see results, even if you needed to modify those moves.  Or, a seasoned person could come in after doing a program like Insanity and get results as well.  Did I mention that weight that I couldn’t seem to lose?  So far, with one month left in my program (phase 3), I have lost 15 lbs and 12.5 inches (2.5 on my waist and 3 on that pooch area women hate so much!).  Even better, my body fat % has dropped again and I can fit in my skinny clothes…in only 1 MONTH!  I can’t wait to see what the second month brings! :)   Oh, and I don’t have to workout for 2 hours any longer.  These workouts are only about 30-45 min each.

Keep in mind, I AM following the diet plan they set out (which is pretty simple) but I do stray from it occasionally.  I’ve cut back on my grains and replaced many of those with vegetables but to see my weight come off and my abs flatten and get toned is more than worth it to me :)

UPDATE 10/09:

So I got a preview workout from Rev Abs with my One on One video this month – Fire Up Your Abs.  This is one of the “Phase 1″ workouts when you begin the Rev Abs program.  It appears to be a 90 Day program (similar to ChaLEAN Extreme or P90X) and if this video is any indication of what the 90 Day program will be like, you will LOVE this!

There was not a lot of Capoiera in this workout but it did definately “fire up” my abs.  It was more of a circuit training workout targeting every angle of the core with some intense cardio mixed in.

Brett Hoebel has a great personality and seems fun (like a mix between Shaun T, Chalene and Tony) and I love the fact that he tells you WHY you do each move, how to get the most out of each exercise and how to modify if necessary.  He definately motivates you to want to do more.  I am really looking forward to this workout now!!!

Hey Shane, RevAbs has a great meal plan inclded to help you drop body fat fast. If you stick with the plan for the full 90 days, you’ll get great results but keep in mind that the 90 days will help you develop new habits, including your eating. You cant just do it for a little while or you’ll just end up back where you start or worse. Its not always easy but its always worth the effort you’ll put out. Im happy to help you thru the program if you need it

Can somebody help me find out where to find phase 3?

    • fitcoachtina says:

Phase Three would be another 45 days and come in the Deluxe or Upgrade package (if you already have the Basic RevAbs package). Just click SHOP at http://www.CaliFitClub.com. You can search by program or trainer and see all that they have available. With the Upgrade Pkg, you get 2 more DVD workouts, 2 workout bands, the calendar and Anywhere Abs 2. The Deluxe Pkg contains the original RevAbs (Basic) along with the Upgrade materials. Hope this helps you a bit more! :) If you have any other questions, just let me know!

  3. Hi, I am well into phase 2 of this program and really enjoying it. Taken off about 5 pounds of fatso far, the workouts are really enjoyable. The only disappointment I’ve found is the music and the rev it up workout – just not intense enough for phase 2. What are your thoughts on the program?

Hey Kevin, I finished Insanity before this program so (after chatting with Brett about it) I bought the deluxe version of Rev Abs and started in Phase 2 and will move on the the Phase 3 in another week. I was worried that it wouldn’t be as intense as Insanity but I’ve been able to add intensity with weights. I like the music (although it’s not like many of the other programs…not fond of most of the Insanity music tho) and while Rev It Up isn’t super intense for Phase 2, it’s easy enough to make it more so by taking it into REALLY low squats and making the moves more plyo. I consistently get my heart rate well within my anaerobic range (as I did in Insanity) but without the jarring plyo moves and I really like the longer breaks in Rev Abs. I always tell people that Rev Abs is Insanity for “real” people! LOL Congrats on the 5 lbs…that is nothing to complain about. In my first month (doing Phase 2 and the 14 day Quick Start) I have lost 9 lbs of fat and dropped 1 clothing size. I am able to wear clothes I wasn’t able to put on at all a month ago. I’m pretty please with my results from this program and I still have another month to go! :)
